Judd Flinders Story
George (Judd) T. Flinders and his wife Elizabeth (Beth) owned the Judd-A-Beth Ranch (of 12,000 acres), 14 miles east of Snowville, Utah, until Judd's death at the age of 94, in November of 1998. The ranch was largely a commercial beef cattle operation until Judd was introduced to Missouri Fox Trotters in 1990. He purchased his first three untrained two year old MFT's in the spring of 1991. Judd was greatly impressed by the dispositions and versatility of the young horses. He then proceeded to put together a breeding heard of 45 -50 mares and 3 - 5 stallions mainly from Missouri and northern Wyoming. The herd often reached 150 horses of mixed ages. These were sold throughout the United States, but mostly in the West.
Judd supported the brilliant organizing theme of The Great Western Celebration that emphasized the multifaceted talents of the Missouri Fox Trotting horse. The Judd flinders Memorial Traveling Trophy for the Great Western All Around Grand Champion was created to recognize Judd's critical initial support in the growth of this wonderful breed in the West. It also recognizes his commitment to excellent horses and horsemanship. |
