UTAH GRAND ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS

DATE:  June 5-7, 2008

LOCATION:  Davis County Events Center, 151 S. 1100 W., Farmington, UT

ENTRIES/FEES:

            ONE HORSE PER ENTRY FORM, PLEASE!

Copy of each horse’s MFTHBA registration must accompany each entry form.

For entries received by May 29 (1 week prior to start of show):  $10/class/rider.  $50 unlimited youth rider (Youth Classes Only); no charge for beginner youth classes.

            For entries received after May 29 or made at the show:  $15 per class.

If entering at the show, please fill out all forms completely before you reach the entry desk (to make the process more efficient for everyone).  You will receive a list of classes entered and fees paid at the entry desk.  Please verify your entries and fees before leaving the entry desk.

All entry fees, stall fees and RV fees must be prepaid before you will be allowed to show.

Stall fees $20 per day per stall for the duration of the shows.  Stall fees must be prepaid with entry.  Stalls will be available starting on Wednesday, June 4.  If you need to arrive before June 4, please call Darin Bromley (801-244-6442) before arriving on the grounds to make special arrangements.  Fairgrounds management will not unlock stalls without show management direction.

RV Hookups:  $25/night per site charge to use camping electrical and water hookups.  RV fees must be prepaid with entry.  Sites are first come, first serve.  Restrooms are available on the grounds.  No grounds fee for day use or non-hookup camping.

Concessions:  Concession stand will be open 8 am (breakfast items available) – 8 pm on Thursday; 8 am – 3:00 pm on Friday; 8 am -5:30  pm on Friday.

          Arena Hours:

Wednesday, June 4:  9 am – 10 pm.  $5 per horse; please pay at Legacy center office (south end of building). Day riding pass must be displayed on saddle.

                        Thursday, June 5:  6:30 am – 11:00 pm (no fee required).

                        Friday, June 6:  6:30  am – 11:00 pm (no fee required).

                        Saturday, June 7:  6 am – 8:00 pm (no fee required).

ENTRY DESK HOURS:  Entry desk will be open Wednesday evening, June 4, from 7 pm – 9:30 pm; Thursday June 5 from 6:30 am – 7:30 am; Friday June 6 from 6:30 am – 7:30 am, and Saturday, June 7 from 6:30 am – 7:30 am.  On show days, class changes may be made at no charge between 6:30 and 7:30 am and only at the entry desk.  Additions made outside of these hours must be completed no less than 5 classes prior to the added class, may be made only at the entry desk, and will incur a $15 late fee per class.

CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES:  If a horse qualifies for a championship class and the rider wishes to compete in the championship class, the rider will be required to fill out a championship class entry form at the entry desk at least 5 classes prior to the running of the championship class.  There will be no charge to enter the championship class.

BEGINNER YOUTH RIDERS:  All beginner youth classes are limited to novice and beginner youth riders, age 17 and under as of Jan. 1, 2008.  Any youth who has previously shown in the youth division is not eligible to show in the beginner youth division.  For 2008, any youth who has won a beginner youth high point award in any previous year is not eligible to show in the beginner youth division.

YOUTH RIDERS:  Youth is defined as age 17 or under as of Jan. 1, 2008.

NOVICE ADULT RIDERS:  Novice adult riders may not have won more than a combination of 3 first through third placings in non-novice fox trotting classes during any calendar year.  For novice versatility, the exhibitor must not have won more than a combination of 3 first through third placings for a specific versatility class during any calendar year.

REGIONAL / NATIONAL HIGH POINT CLASSES:  Placements received in classes marked with an “ X “ will count toward regional/national high point awards.

Ranch Horse Champion

Amateur High Point Versatility

Open High Point Versatility

Youth High Point Versatility

Beginner Youth High Point

Novice Adult High Point

 

RANCH HORSE COMPETITION:

          Open, Amateur and Youth exhibitors will compete concurrently against each other. 

To be recognized as Ranch Horse Champion, an exhibitor must compete in at least 4 ranch horse classes, one of which must be Ranch Pleasure.

There will be a one-time cattle fee of $40 to enter any of the ranch horse cattle classes (roping, cutting, working cow).

Placement points will be awarded in each of the 6 Ranch Horse classes as shown on page 71 of the MFTHBA 2006 Rulebook, with the exhibitor receiving the highest point total designated as Ranch Horse Champion.

          Points accumulated in the Ranch Horse competition will not count toward the versatility high point awards.

RULES:  This show will be run in accordance with the 2006 MFTHBA Official Rules, Standards and Policies book.  All participants should be familiar with the rules as printed in the MFTHBA Official Rules, Standards and Policies book.  It is participants’ responsibility to be in compliance with the rules for the classes in which they are competing.

Classes may be canceled or combined at the discretion of show managements.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT:  UFTHA will host a family fun night on Friday, June 6.  Activities and games (mounted and non-mounted) for all ages will begin following the last class of the day in the indoor arena. 

POTLUCK DINNER:  UFTHA will host a potluck dinner starting at 6:30 pm on Friday, June 6.  UFTHA will supply main dish; please bring a side dish or dessert to share.  Suggested donation:  $3 per person or $10 per family.
