Call me as soon as you have your schedule
cleared to reserve your spot. This is a very beautiful ride. Bring your
camera and nice lunch! We'll ride to around eight lakes along the way.
And there is a fresh water spring and pipe sticking out of the ground to
fill your drinking container about three miles in! The ride is about ten
miles of wonderful scenery! Exciting! Join up!

~ Notes from Keith
~
I drove up to Washington Lake Trailhead
today June 30, 2008, just to check things out again. The area is almost
free of snow now, except for small piles in the shade of deep timber. By
the 10th we will be in great shape for a wonderful ride. The temperature
up there was 78 today! Right now there were few cars at the trailhead.
So I am confident there will be no problem with having enough parking
space for trucks and trailers on the tenth. As a result, I am ready to
invite more people to go on this ride with us, but call me to get on my
list so I know how many are coming,
801-571-3221.
Don't forget! Talking before hand is also a good way to get
acquainted. We also found a secondary parking area in case the main
trailhead is full. There is room for a good number of outfits in this
area.
So here is the information everyone who goes needs to have! I plan to be
in the area by 9:00 a. m. and ready to ride at that time. This means we
all get up "Before the first crow flies!" That's
early. It is 75 miles from Sandy to the Trial Lake turn off, and about
one mile after that to the Washington Lake Trailhead. Go on past the turn
in to Trial Lake Campground. Proceed about half mile where the road takes
a sharp right turn and on to our destination about another half mile. If
this area is filled we will use the alternate parking area. Check it out
when you drive in. At the site of the hard right turn toward the
trailhead (instead of turning, drive
straight ahead) for another fifty yards. Right there you'll
find a dirt parking area just to the left. But if we are not there just
turn around and drive on to the trailhead parking area.
I estimate that it will take over two hours to get to our area from Sandy,
maybe longer for a gas operated truck like mine, and for sure longer for
those driving long distances. Plan to get there a little early rather
than a bit late! You know how that goes. After you get to the Kamas
right turn it is 27 miles to where we are going, that is unless
you stop at the local nudist camp! Honest, it is there on
top of the little hill outside of Kamas some three miles. Watch for the
sign on the right! I have to always shake my head about this, right here
in Utah.
To make things easier I will be on a little 250 talk-about radio (Channel
3.3) to guide you to the parking
area we are using. By the time you hit the Trial Lake turn off we should
have contact. If you have questions about all this please call me. If I
am not home leave a message. Bring a good lunch, a camera, sun block, a
light jacket, a good mountain horse and anything else it takes to make you
happy during a ten mile ride. You will be in fabulous country all day!
There is fresh spring water at Duck Lake, cold enough to be out of
the fridge. Be careful it doesn't freeze your teeth! We'll rest near-by
while everyone fills their drink container. See you there! So far there
are 13 people lined up to go with us.
Also, everyone who parks in the Unitahs
must pay the regular parking fee of $4.00. Just stop at one of the self
help stations to deposit your fee and then display the receipt on your
dash in a visible place. Remember to bring correct change.
